You’ll find that the children are very well catered for here with both seats having an adjustable padded five point safety harness, as well as having the option of an individual raised kicker in order to both increase the comfort of younger children and to gain access to the under seat storage area.
Each seat is padded and can independently recline, although not quite to a fully flat position. As with most twin buggies, the width of each seat determines the overall width of the buggy itself. However, the City Elite is able to accommodate two children very comfortably while still being able to fit through a door of standard size.
Each child has an independent multi position sun canopy. This canopy is one of the most effective available because of the way that it surrounds you child when extended. With such protection, you can be confident that your child will not suffer from direct sunlight and can gain better protection from UV rays than most other buggies of this type (although you should never use this as a replacement sun cream!).
A further feature of the sun canopy on the City Elite are the clear view windows and ventilation panels, each of which have covers that are secured with magnets rather than usual Velcro – The kind of touch that demonstrates Baby Joggers attention to quality and detail.
Parents will appreciate the features that make this buggy a pleasure to push. In order to comfortably cater for people of differing heights, the City Elite Double has an adjustable handlebar, in front of which you will find a convenient console with numerous storage compartments – great for keeping those essentials close at hand.
Unusually, the braking system on the City Elite Double is hand operated and found on the frame beside the handlebar. This allows the parent to keep their feet firmly on the ground if locking the wheels on an uneven surface.
With 4 innovative 12” for-ever air tyres (rubber tyres inflated with light weight foam rather than air), punctures become a thing of the past while retaining the benefits of traditional pneumatic tyres. Combining the tyres with the swivel/lock front wheels and front suspension, navigating uneven surfaces becomes easy, providing your kids with a smooth ride and you the confidence to go that little bit further.
Around the shops, the City Elite Double has a large storage area under the seats as well as two seat back storage compartments that can be used should space run out underneath.
Folding the buggy couldn’t be easier since it comes equipped with the Baby Jogger Quick-Fold Technology. To collapse the City Elite Double simply lift the buggy upwards from the handles located at the bottom of each seat, and the buggy will literally fall in to its collapsed position. Using the supplied fold strap, you can ensure that buggy will remain in it’s collapsed position for transportation.
The Baby Jogger City Elite Double buggy really is a multi purpose product. It will allow you to take full advantage of the great outdoors, but not feel too bulky when navigating around the Isles of your local shopping centre.
Although at the larger end of the scale, using public transport shouldn’t pose any real problems compared to any other side by side buggy. Also air travel would be a possibility which Baby Jogger have made easier with the use of the specifically designed travel bag (available separately).
As with any go anywhere buggy, the frame is slightly more bulky than what you might expect from a less robust alternative. When folded, you have the option of taking the wheels off in order to save more space, however we would always recommend that you check the dimensions (see specification) to ensure that you are able to fit the City Elite Double in the boot of your car.
